Information about A Natural Home Our mission is to provide organic products for the home that are durable, affordable, and environmentally friendly. The simple goal is to create a line of organic and safe home accessories that are expertly made and affordable -- and to manufacture them in a small community in Ohio. All of our products are made by family run and operated workshops in our local Ohio community. All of our products are made with 100% organic ingredients (except the bias tape, but we can substitute organic binding tape upon request). No fire retardant chemicals are used in the mattresses. Wool serves that function in our mattresses because wool naturally discourages burning. Our Vegan mattress is the exception - it doesn't have wool or any chemicals and therefore requires a Doctor's prescription. Our organic mattresses are affordable and will help you sleep better. We use the most natural and organic materials possible without stressing your budget. We have variations of mattresses to choose from using organic cotton, organic wool and natural latex. Our innerspring mattress is filled with organic cotton and organic wool. Typically cotton grown in industrialized countries is saturated with pesticides and herbicides. It absorbs all the chemicals that modern fertilizers deposit in the soil. Our cotton has been raised pesticide and herbicide-free, which benefits not only the consumer, but also the soil in which it was grown. Only organic wool is used in our mattresses. This wool is shorn from sheep raised on organic farms then washed using only mild vegetable-based soaps and hot water. Since no detergents, chemicals, bleaches or chlorine are used in the cleaning process, the lanolin is not completely washed out of the wool. Lanolin naturally repels dust mites, the single most common allergy people suffer from. Wool is a natural flame retardant. In mattresses, it is the perfect, natural substitute for flame retardant chemicals. All the natural wood cribs are built by the local Amish. Because of their lifestyle, the Amish have no time to fix or make new furniture. What that means is that you can be sure that your handcrafted furniture will last a lifetime. They do not use plywood, veneers, or filler wood. Everything is solid hardwood. The Amish do not make furniture to become rich; they make it because they need it. They work the farm to eat, they build furniture to use. Their furniture is not extravagant, overpriced and flimsy; it is simple, very much worth its price, and sturdy. Now you can experience the tradition of Amish woodworking with your family. Amish furniture is known across the country for its quality and durability. Made from solid wood gathered from protected forests, Amish furniture will not only last a lifetime, but also your children's lifetime, and your grandchildren's lifetime. It will definitely become a family heirloom. The Amish handcraft their furniture from solid maple, ash, oak, walnut and cherry. No plywood laminates, or veneers are used. Because the wood comes from protected forests, there will always be enough; only so much wood is allowed to be cut, so we don't have to worry about deforestation. |
